Taxi Driver Knocks Down Innocent Motorist At Bubuashie | Says He Mistook Him For An Armed Robber

Last week, Ghanaian heroic taxi driver, Nana Yaw, made headlines after he managed to courageously knock down two armed robbers with his cab at Cantonments. His action was applauded by several Ghanaians including former President, Jerry John Rawlings. The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, therefore promised to build him a 3-bedroom house for that courageous act.

In view of that, the Ghana Private Roads and Transport Union (GPRTU) announced on Thursday that plans were far advanced to train taxi drivers on how to successfully scout for armed robbers and knock them down with their cabs.

Information reaching ScrewLife.Com this morning indicates that a taxi driver was nearly beaten to death at Bubuashie – a suburb of Accra – after he knocked down a motorist with his rickety car.

According to eyewitnesses, Abubakar Osman – a provision shop owner – was riding on his motorbike from his house to where his shop is situated when this unfortunate incident happened. Per their reports, a taxi driver from nowhere appeared from the back of Osman and knocked him down into a nearby gutter.

The occurrence which did not go down well with the people around who know Osman started beating the driver up mercilessly till a policeman came to his rescue.

When interrogated by the police, the taxi driver whose name was given as Michael Bediako said he thought Osman was an armed robber so he was just doing his part as a citizen vigilante – helping the fight against robbery in the country, and who knows he might be the next courageous taxi driver to win a brand new car and a 3-bedroom apartment for himself.

He also told the police that it is his dream to meet the Vice President of the country and the only way out is to knock down an armed robber so he could be invited to the Flagstaff House; so when he saw Osman on the motorbike, he was convinced that he was an armed robber, therefore decided to knock him down.

The policeman, we are told, opted to let the driver go because of his honesty.
